Speechyou vs. Sonix

## What changes when you switch?

Sonix is a strong fit for a transcript editor, production exports and an established developer workflow. Speechyou is worth testing when you want a lower individual subscription price, broader language coverage and recording-to-notes tools in the same app.

Pricing, without the guesswork

## Keep $208 a year.

That is the difference between Solo and Core annual subscriptions. The plans include different tools and allowances. A one-off Sonix upload can still cost less than a subscription.[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)

**$208 less a year** for Solo vs. Sonix Core

Core is the entry subscription, not Sonix’s cheapest option for every workload. Pay As You Go costs $10 per audio hour. Additional subscription hours cost $10/hour; translation also consumes credits. Prices checked September 13, 2026; taxes and currency conversion excluded. Different plans include different features and allowances.

No recurring subscription; AI workspace not included | Occasional files. A one-hour transcription is $10 before other services, less than Solo’s $15 monthly price. |
| Sonix Core | US$25/month or US$275/year
5 hours/month or 60 hours/year; extra usage $10/hour | Steady individual use. Transcription and translation share credits. |

Plan and service figures from the sources below. Illustrative per-file totals are arithmetic examples, not measured customer savings.[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)

Your language comes first

## Find your language. Try your audio.

Sonix’s current pricing describes transcription in 54+ languages. Speechyou’s catalog covers 1,648 distinct language codes across 1,668 language/script configurations. That gives you more languages to investigate, especially when your recordings fall outside the most widely supported set.[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[10\]](#source-languages)[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

A larger catalog does not tell you which service will transcribe your accent best. Start with the exact language, script and vocabulary in your files. For mixed-language recordings, test transitions between languages as well as long stretches of clear speech; do not assume translation coverage is transcription coverage.[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

[Browse all Speechyou languages](https://speechyou.com/languages)

### Find the right starting point

Speechyou offers Whisper and MultiLingual Pro. Check the catalog for your exact language and script, then test a recording.

[HebrewInterviews and conversations](https://speechyou.com/hebrew-transcription)[GermanMeetings and recorded notes](https://speechyou.com/german-transcription)[ZuluExplore broader language coverage](https://speechyou.com/zulu-transcription)[LugandaCheck your language and script](https://speechyou.com/luganda-transcription)

These are Speechyou language examples, not a claim that Sonix lacks all four. Language availability is not an accuracy guarantee.[\[10\]](#source-languages)[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

Accuracy you can evaluate

## Bring your toughest recording.

Use the same audio in both tools. The names, numbers and speaker changes you need are a better test than a headline percentage.

1. ### Bring a real recording

Start your free trial and upload a representative interview, lecture or video. Choose the correct language in both products.

2. ### Check what matters

Listen to difficult passages. Check names, figures, quotations and speaker labels, then note the time needed to correct them.

3. ### Try the next step

Ask for a summary and verify it. Export the file you actually need and open it in your usual software before deciding.

**A fair test compares the actual products.**

Sonix markets its own transcription accuracy. That claim is not a measurement against Speechyou, and we have not verified that the products use the same model. Sonix’s custom dictionary and multitrack workflow may be relevant to specialized names or separate speaker recordings; include those settings in a fair test instead of comparing default outputs alone.[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[8\]](#source-competitor-multitrack)

### How to run a useful comparison

Keep the source file and language consistent. Record the model and processing mode where available. Compare important factual errors, speaker attribution, timestamps and time spent editing. If you calculate word error rate, use the same manually checked reference transcript. Keep translation, summarization and human proofreading separate from the raw transcription result.

Whisper research describes a model family and its limitations. It is not a score for either hosted product. We have not established a controlled head-to-head benchmark for this page.[\[13\]](#source-whisper)[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

More from every recording

## Your transcript is just the start.

Compare what happens after the words appear: finding a quote, asking a question, sharing a note, or delivering the right file.

### Ask the recording, then use the answer

Speechyou Solo includes Ask AI inside your notes. Sonix also offers an AI workspace, with usage allowances tied to the plan. Try the same request in each: a summary with the decisions, owners and dates you can verify against the transcript. Check the answer, not just whether an AI button exists.[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)[\[14\]](#source-demo)[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)

[Explore Speechyou meeting notes](https://speechyou.com/tools/meeting-notes-generator)

### Choose the export you actually deliver

Speechyou exports TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON. Sonix additionally documents direct Word and PDF output. If a client expects a formatted document or your editing software depends on a particular format, test that handoff during the trial. A lower subscription price does not replace a missing delivery format.[\[14\]](#source-demo)[\[3\]](#source-competitor-api)[\[6\]](#source-competitor-subtitles)

[Explore SRT subtitles](https://speechyou.com/srt-transcription)

### Connect your library to your AI tools

Both products offer MCP connections. Sonix documents read-only access to media, transcripts and generated exports on paid plans, with owner/producer authorization. Speechyou connects notes to compatible clients such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Compare the actual tools exposed and the account permissions required.[\[16\]](#source-mcp)[\[4\]](#source-competitor-mcp)

### Take Speechyou on the go

Record an idea between appointments, transcribe an interview and share a summary from your phone. Speechyou is available on iPhone and iPad, with a Mac app too. Check the comparison table for Sonix’s mobile options; compare recording, editing and export options on the devices you use.[\[15\]](#source-mobile)

[Explore the mobile app](https://speechyou.com/ios)

### Bring your bigger recordings

Speechyou Solo supports files up to 10 GB. Batch-upload recordings, organize them with tags and search, and keep the transcript alongside your notes. File size is separate from duration, storage and processing speed. Check the sourced competitor limits in the table before making a large-file decision.[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)[\[14\]](#source-demo)

[Transcribe your recordings](https://speechyou.com/transcribe-voice-memos)

### Build around your integration

Speechyou offers API access by request. Bring the team your languages, input sources, volume, output formats and latency requirements to scope the integration and commercial terms. API access is separate from Solo. The table distinguishes Sonix’s developer offering from its web subscription.[\[12\]](#source-api)

Choose what fits

## A useful comparison shows both sides.

### Choose Speechyou when…

- You want Solo’s US$67 annual subscription for recurring personal transcription.
- Your language or script is outside Sonix’s published coverage.
- You want to record on iPhone or iPad and keep notes, transcripts and Ask AI together.
- TXT, SRT, VTT or JSON fits your delivery workflow.

[Try Speechyou free](https://app.speechyou.com/sign-up?ref=sonix-alternative)

### Consider Sonix when…

- You only need occasional pay-as-you-go transcription.
- You need files between 10 GB and Sonix’s published 16 GB maximum.
- Direct Word/PDF output or multitrack processing is essential.
- You want an already documented REST API and webhooks.

A closer look

## The details behind the table.

Billing models, usage rules and production requirements can matter more than a feature count.

### What happens when a recording uses more than one service?

Sonix meters transcription, translation and realignment against credits. A five-hour transcription project is not necessarily a five-hour bill if you also translate or realign it. Core’s annual selector provides 60 hours for the year, rather than showing a fresh five-hour monthly allocation. Review the services you expect to use and the billing period together. Speechyou’s unlimited-note allowance is a different commercial model, not evidence of unlimited simultaneous jobs or a guaranteed archive-processing speed.[\[2\]](#source-competitor-plans)[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)

### Is 25 GB storage the same as a 25 GB upload limit?

No. Sonix Core’s 25 GB is account storage; its upload support article separately describes a 16 GB maximum file size. Speechyou Solo’s 10 GB figure refers to one upload. Keep storage capacity, file size, recording duration and monthly processing volume separate when planning a library. Sonix has the higher documented per-file size in this comparison, so Speechyou should not be chosen on a claim of larger uploads.[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[5\]](#source-competitor-upload)[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)

### What should developers and teams compare?

Sonix exposes REST endpoints, webhooks and structured exports. Speechyou offers API access by request with separate terms; do not treat a Solo subscription as an API bundle. For shared work, compare who can upload, edit, authorize MCP connections and access account-wide recordings. Sonix’s security help describes US hosting and encrypted storage. This page does not establish security equivalence, a compliance certification for Speechyou, or suitability for a regulated workflow.[\[3\]](#source-competitor-api)[\[4\]](#source-competitor-mcp)[\[7\]](#source-competitor-security)[\[12\]](#source-api)

Before you switch

## Your questions, answered.

### Is Speechyou cheaper than Sonix?

Solo costs US$15 monthly or US$67 annually. Sonix Core costs US$25 monthly or US$275 annually, so Solo’s subscription is $10 less per month or $208 less per year. Sonix’s $10/hour pay-as-you-go option may cost less for occasional short recordings. Features, credits and storage differ.[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)

### Does Sonix still use the old Premium pricing?

The live selector reviewed for this page shows Pay As You Go, Core, Advanced and Pro. Some older help articles and third-party comparisons refer to earlier tiers. Use the current plan selector and checkout for your purchase; this comparison uses the plans captured in the screenshots.[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[2\]](#source-competitor-plans)

### Does Sonix have an MCP server?

Yes. Its public documentation describes a paid-plan MCP server for reading media and transcripts and generating exports. Trial/free accounts cannot connect, and account role restrictions apply. MCP access is therefore not an exclusive Speechyou feature.[\[4\]](#source-competitor-mcp)

### Which service accepts larger files?

Sonix’s support article lists up to 16 GB per file. Speechyou Solo supports up to 10 GB. Account storage and processing volume are different limits, so neither figure should be read as unlimited storage or guaranteed processing time.[\[5\]](#source-competitor-upload)[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)

### When should I keep Sonix?

Keep it on your shortlist if pay-as-you-go billing, native document exports, multitrack handling or existing API integrations are important. Test Speechyou when lower recurring cost, broader language coverage and a mobile notes workflow better fit your use.[\[3\]](#source-competitor-api)[\[8\]](#source-competitor-multitrack)[\[1\]](#source-competitor-pricing)[\[15\]](#source-mobile)

### Is Speechyou more accurate than Sonix?

We have not established that in a controlled product comparison. Use the same recording and language in both tools, check names, numbers and speaker changes against the audio, and measure correction time. Model research and vendor accuracy percentages are not a substitute for this test.[\[13\]](#source-whisper)[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

### What does 1,700 languages mean?

It is a rounded catalog figure. The application catalog reviewed contains 1,668 language/script configurations across 1,648 distinct language codes. Multiple scripts can belong to one language. This describes coverage, not equal accuracy in every language or a count of translation directions.[\[10\]](#source-languages)[\[11\]](#source-multilingual)

### Can I try my own recording for free?

Yes. Start your three-day free trial of Speechyou Solo, then upload your audio or video. Try the transcript, Ask AI and the exports you need. Your subscription renews at the selected price unless canceled; check your chosen billing period at signup.[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)[\[14\]](#source-demo)

### Can I use Speechyou on my phone and with my AI assistant?

Speechyou is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Its MCP connector lets compatible AI clients search and read your notes and transcripts. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients require their own supported connector setup; availability can depend on the client and its plan.[\[15\]](#source-mobile)[\[16\]](#source-mcp)

### Can I move all my Sonix files to Speechyou?

Keep your original recordings and export any edited transcripts you need before leaving your existing service. Upload supported recordings to Speechyou within its plan limits. A one-click transfer of folders, edits, comments, permissions and speaker identities has not been verified. Test a few representative files before moving a library.[\[14\]](#source-demo)[\[9\]](#source-speechyou-pricing)

## A comparison you can check.

Published by Speechyou, a Sonix competitor. Reviewed September 13, 2026. We checked public product and pricing pages, help articles and browser-visible plan selectors. Speechyou capabilities also draw on the product configuration and owner-confirmed offer used for this comparison. We did not test a paid Sonix account or run a controlled transcription benchmark.

Prices keep their stated currencies and billing periods. Annual totals calculated from monthly equivalents are labeled. Vendor claims, documentation differences and unverified capabilities are identified. Screenshots show public pages; the Speechyou demo contains sample content. Features and prices can change.
